Kinds of Nouns


What is meant by noun? : A word that is a name of a person,animal,place,thing,quality,idea etc. is called Noun.

Kinds of Nouns :

1)Common Noun : The name of a class of something is called a common Noun.Common does not start with a capital letter.
e.g.city,village,girl,river,etc.

2)Proper Noun : A proper noun is a name of a particular thing,person,place,animal etc.Proper nouns start with a capital letter.
e.g. Robert,Radha,America,Amazon etc.

Collective Noun : Collective Noun is a name of group.
e.g.herd,army,bunch,bundle,team,etc.

Material Noun:The names of substances which we can't count in numbers.They have their own unit.These substances are called material nouns.
e.g.milk,sugar,water,gold,etc.
Abstract Noun: It is the name of the quality of something. 
e.g.childhood,greatness,tiredness.
